Abstract
Knee replacement prosthesis are provided, comprising a plurality of sensors and at least one of a femoral component, a patellar prosthesis and a tibial component.
Claims21
1-23. (canceled)
A method comprising:
- obtaining acceleration data from measurements made by a plurality of acceleration-measuring accelerometers positioned within a tibial stem of a knee replacement prosthesis located in-situ in a knee of a patient wherein the measurements are made within a period of time;
- recording and storing the acceleration data in a memory located within the tibial stem;
- transferring the acceleration data from the memory in the tibial stem component to a memory in a location outside the knee replacement prosthesis;
- and
- analyzing the acceleration data to determine a range of motion of the knee replacement prosthesis during post-operative ambulation by the patient.

25-65. (canceled)
The method of claim 29 wherein acceleration data is obtained at multiple times over several months to provide collected acceleration data, and the collected acceleration data is analyzed to create a visual display of positional movement of the knee replacement prosthesis over the several months.
