Abstract
A person's food consumption can be automatically tracked by a finger ring or smart watch with a motion sensor and a camera on its ventral portion. The camera is activated to record images when the device is waved over food. The images are analyzed to identify food types and quantities. A system for tracking food consumption can include a finger ring with a camera which is worn on a person's dominant arm and a smart watch worn on the person's non-dominant arm, wherein images recorded by the camera are displayed by the smart watch.
Claims20
A device for tracking a person's food consumption comprising:
- a wearable device which is worn on a person's finger or wrist;
- a motion sensor on the wearable device;
- and
- a camera on a ventral portion of the wearable device;
- wherein data from the motion sensor is analyzed to detect a selected hand motion;
- wherein the camera is triggered to record images when the selected hand motion is detected;
- and wherein artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or pattern recognition is used to analyze the images in order to identify types and quantities of food in the images.
A system for tracking food consumption comprising:
- a finger ring worn on a finger of a person's dominant arm;
- wherein the finger ring further comprises a motion sensor, a data processor, a data transmitter, and an energy source;
- wherein the finger ring further comprises a camera on a ventral portion of the finger ring;
- and
- a smart watch or other wrist-worn device worn on a wrist of the person's non-dominant arm;
- wherein the smart watch or other wrist-worn device further comprises a display screen, wherein the camera records images of food, wherein the finger ring is in wireless communication with the smart watch or other wrist-worn device, and wherein images recorded by the camera are shown on the display.
A method for tracking a person's food consumption comprising:
- receiving motion data from a motion sensor on a wearable device which is worn on a person's wrist or finger;
- analyzing the motion data to detect a selected hand motion;
- triggering a camera on the wearable device to record images when the selected hand motion is detected;
- and
- using artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or pattern recognition to analyze the images to identify types and quantities of food in the images.
