Abstract
Provided herein is a composition comprising a Pickering emulsion comprising a plurality of core-shell particles encapsulating a microbial cell and/or a spore thereof. Furthermore, a method for controlling a pest on or within a plant or at the area under cultivation is provided.
Claims31
A composition, comprising core-shell particles dispersed within a hydrophobic solvent, wherein:
- each of the core-shell particles comprises a liquid core enclosed by a shell comprising hydrophobic nanoparticles;
- the liquid core comprises an aqueous solution and at least one microbial cell, a spore thereof, or a combination thereof,
- a w/w concentration of the hydrophobic nanoparticles within the composition is between 0.1 and 10%;
- a w/w ratio between the aqueous solution and the hydrophobic solvent is between 5:95 and 40:60;
- and
- said hydrophobic nanoparticles comprise a chemically modified metal oxide nanoparticle.
