Abstract
A mechanical subtractive method of manufacturing a flexible circuitry layer may include mechanically removing at least a portion of a conductive mesh, wherein, following the mechanical removal, a remaining portion of the conductive mesh forms at least a portion of a circuitry trace comprising an electrode; forming an electrical connection between the electrode and a terminal of an interfacing component, wherein the interfacing component comprises a connector; and encasing at least a portion of the circuit trace with an insulative layer.

A method of manufacturing a flexible circuit device for incorporation into an automotive product, comprising:
- providing a conductive mesh forming at least a portion of a circuitry trace, the at least portion of the circuitry trace comprising an electrode, an interfacing component having a plurality of terminals and a connector, and an insulative layer;
- mounting at least one pressure sensitive component to the at least the portion of the circuitry trace to form a capacitive touch region;
- forming electrical connections between the electrode of the circuitry trace of the conductive mesh and the plurality of terminals of the interfacing component;
- and
- incorporating the at least portion of the circuitry trace of the conductive mesh into an automotive product.
A flexible circuitry layer configured to be incorporated into an automotive product comprising:
- a conductive mesh including a circuitry trace layer defining one or more electrodes, the circuitry trace layer including at least one pressure sensitive component to form a capacitive touch portion configured to react to deformation by a user;
- an interfacing component including one or more terminals and a connector, the one or more terminals configured to electrically connect to the one or more electrodes of the circuitry trace layer;
- and
- one or more insulative layers configured to encase at least a portion of the circuitry trace layer of the conductive mesh and at least a portion of the interfacing component.
A method of manufacture, comprising:
- mechanically removing at least a portion of a conductive mesh, wherein, following the mechanical removal, a remaining portion of the conductive mesh forms at least a portion of a circuitry trace comprising an electrode, the at least the portion of the circuitry trace including at least one pressure sensitive component to form a capacitive touch portion configured to react to deformation by a user;
- forming an electrical connection between the electrode and a terminal of an interfacing component, wherein the interfacing component comprises a connector;
- and
- incorporating the at least portion of the circuitry trace of the conductive mesh into an automotive product.
