File system format for persistent memory

A system, comprising:

• a first node comprising a first persistent memory partitioned into a local partition;
• a second node comprising a second persistent memory partitioned into remote partition;
• and
• a persistent memory storage tier, associated with the first persistent memory, that:
• stores pages of data within the local partition of the first persistent memory of the first node;
• selectively executing operations through a persistent memory file system and a storage file system that stores blocks of data within storage separate from the persistent memory;
• and
• mirroring data within the local partition of the first persistent memory of the first node to the remote partition of the second persistent memory of the second node that is a partner of the first node, wherein subsequent operations are rerouted from the first node to the second node for access to the remote partition of the second persistent memory based upon the first node failing.

A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising instructions for performing a method, which when executed by a machine, causes the machine to:

• store, by a persistent memory file system, pages of data within persistent memory of a node;
• store, by a storage file system, blocks of data within storage separate from the persistent memory;
• selectively execute operations through the persistent memory file system and the storage file system;
• and
• mirror data within the persistent memory of the node to a partner persistent memory of a partner node that is a partner of the node, wherein subsequent operations are rerouted from the node to the partner node for access to the partner persistent memory.
