Abstract
The present invention relates to a system for performing assays on a solid phase to measure the level of analyte in a sample. Such a system may perform immunoassays using electrochemiluminescence (ECL) including a counterbalanced orbital shaking apparatus for assay consumables. The counterbalanced orbital shaking apparatus also incubates the assay consumables, and has a cooling system to maintain a preset temperature within the shaking apparatus.

A housing, comprising:
- a blower;
- a hood;
- a chimney;
- and
- at least one cooler located proximate to a surface of the housing;
- wherein the blower is configured to pull air through at least one airflow channel disposed within an incubator;
- further wherein said air is pulled from the housing by the blower, ducted through the hood and the chimney to an inlet, and returned to the housing.

A system, comprising:
- a housing further including:
- a blower;
- a hood;
- a chimney;
- at least one cooler located proximate to a surface of the housing;
- and
- an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) reader;
- wherein the blower is configured to pull air through at least one airflow channel disposed within an incubator;
- further wherein said air is pulled from the housing by the blower, ducted through the hood and the chimney to an inlet, and returned to the housing;
- and
- wherein said air is cooled by the at least one cooler and returned into the housing via a plenum.
