Abstract
The present application discloses mixed cellulose esters that are freshwater biodegradable. The present application also discloses compositions, articles, beads and films (e.g. reverse dispersion quarter waveplate) made from the mixed cellulose esters.
Claims14
A film comprising a mixed cellulose ester (“MCE”), comprising:
- (1) a plurality of acetyl substituents;
- (2) a plurality of butyryl substituents;
- and
- (3) a plurality of hydroxyl substituents,
- wherein:
- the MCE has an average degree of substitution for the acetyl substituents (“DSAc”) that is from 2.1 to 2.3,
- the MCE has an average degree of substitution for the butyryl substituents (“DSBu”) that is from 0.2 to 0.4,
- the MCE has an average degree of substitution for the hydroxyl substituents (“DSOH”) that is from 0.6 to 0.8.
