Method and apparatus for controlling relaxed measurement in a wireless communication system

A wireless device, comprising:

• a transceiver;
• at least one processor operatively coupled to the transceiver;
• and
• at least one memory operatively coupled to the at least one processor and storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from a network, a system information block 2 (SIB2) including a first configuration to allow relaxation of measurement, wherein the first configuration includes at least one parameter related to at least one relaxed measurement criterion;
• receiving, from the network, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a second configuration, wherein the second configuration includes at least one carrier set to be measured during an idle state or an inactive state;
• and
• determining whether to perform relaxed measurements for at least one frequency, based on that (i) measurements for the at least one frequency have been performed, (ii) the at least one relaxed measurement criterion for the at least one frequency is fulfilled for the at least one parameter, and (iii) the relaxed measurements are not applicable for a frequency that is included in the at least one carrier set in the second configuration.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon a plurality of instructions, which, when executed by a processor of a wireless device, cause the wireless device to:

• receive, from a network, a system information block 2 (SIB2) including a first configuration to allow relaxation of measurement, wherein the first configuration includes at least one parameter related to at least one relaxed measurement criterion;
• receive, from the network, a radio resource control (RRC) release message including a second configuration, wherein the second configuration includes at least one carrier set to be measured during an idle state or an inactive state;
• and
• determining whether to perform relaxed measurements for at least one frequency, based on that (i) measurements for the at least one frequency have been performed, (ii) the at least one relaxed measurement criterion for the at least one frequency is fulfilled for the at least one parameter, and (iii) the relaxed measurements are not applicable for a frequency that is included in the at least one carrier set in the second configuration.
