Abstract
A method of relay-attack resistant communications in a wireless communications system that includes a master wireless device (Master) sending a synchronization signal to a slave wireless device (Slave). The synchronization signal includes timing information including a common time reference and a timeslot duration for interlocking Master communication timeslots for Master and Slave communication timeslots so that an alternating TX and RX role pattern is provided. The Master analyzes Slave packet data received from the Slave to identify overlaps of a transmission from the Master and the slave packet data, and in a case of detecting overlap, suspends communications from Master to Slave to prevent a relay-attack.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- wirelessly transmitting, by a first device, a first packet using a first amplifier;
- and
- after a guard time after transmission of the first packet:
- during an interlocking phase, alternating, by the first device, between transmit and receive modes during respective timeslots of a plurality of timeslots, wherein each transmit slot of the plurality of timeslots has a first duration, and wherein each receive slots of the plurality of timeslots has a second duration,
- wirelessly receiving from a second device, by the first device and using a second amplifier, a second packet when the first device is in the receive mode during a first timeslot of the plurality of timeslot,
- wirelessly transmitting to the second device, by the first device and using the first amplifier, a third packet when the first device is in the transmit mode during a second timeslot of the plurality of timeslots, and
- suspending, by the first device, wireless communication with the second device in response to detecting an overlap between transmission of the third packet and reception of the second packet.
A method comprising:
- wirelessly receiving, by a first device, a first packet using a first amplifier of a receive chain;
- and
- in response to receiving the first packet:
- powering a second amplifier of a transmit chain of the first device during a guard time after reception of the first packet, and
- after the guard time:
- during an interlocking phase, alternating, by the first device, between transmit and receive modes during respective timeslots of a plurality of timeslots, wherein each of the transmit slots of the plurality of timeslots has a first duration, and wherein each of the receive slots of the plurality of timeslots has a second duration,
- wirelessly transmitting by the first device to a second device using the second amplifier, a second packet when the first device is in the transmit mode during a first timeslot of the plurality of timeslot, and
- wirelessly receiving from the second device, by the first device and using the first amplifier, a third packet when the first device is in the receive mode during a second timeslot of the plurality of timeslots, wherein wireless communication between the first and second devices is suspended before the interlocking phase ends.
