Abstract
A wireless microphone system may be configured to compensate for a radio frequency (RF) loss incurred in a wired communication path. The system may comprise a receiver configured to receive an downlink RF signal from a wireless microphone, and a transmission line accessory configured to receive an uplink test signal. The RF test signal may be generated from an RF source and may be measured by the transmission line accessory to determine configuration information for an adjustable RF gain circuit.
Claims20
A wireless microphone system comprising:
- a radio frequency (RF) source configured to generate an uplink RF test signal for transmission via a wired communication path and using a transmit power level;
- a transmission line accessory comprising a first adjustable RF gain circuit and configured to:
- receive, via the wired communication path, the uplink RF test signal;
- measure a power level of the uplink RF test signal;
- output an indication of the measured power level;
- and
- adjust, based on configuration information, the adjustable RF gain circuit;
- a receiver configured to receive a downlink RF signal from a wireless microphone via the transmission line accessory and via the wired communication path;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- receive the indication of the measured power level;
- determine, based on the transmit power level and the measured power level, an RF gain setting;
- and
- send, to the transmission line accessory, the configuration information, wherein the configuration information is associated with the RF gain setting for adjustment of the adjustable RF gain circuit by the transmission line accessory.
An apparatus configured to compensate for a radio frequency (RF) loss incurred in a wired communication path of a wireless microphone system, wherein the apparatus comprises:
- an adjustable RF gain circuit;
- a processor;
- and
- a computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the apparatus to:
- send an indication of a measured power level of a first RF signal received by the apparatus, wherein the first RF signal is received via the wired communication path through a transmission line network;
- receive an RF gain setting that is based on the indication of the measured power level of the first RF signal;
- and
- configure, based on the RF gain setting, the adjustable RF gain circuit.
A method for compensating for a radio frequency (RF) loss incurred in a wired communication path of a wireless microphone system, wherein the method comprises:
- sending, by a transmission line accessory, an indication of a measured power level of a first RF signal, wherein the first RF signal is received via the wired communication path through a transmission line network;
- receiving an RF gain setting that is based on the indication of the measured power level of the first RF signal;
- and
- configuring, based on the RF gain setting, an adjustable RF gain circuit.
