Electrode assembly and rechargeable battery including the same

An electrode assembly comprising:

• a first electrode comprising a conductive substrate and having a first electrode active portion comprising a first active material layer and a first electrode uncoated portion without the first active material layer;
• a separator;
• and
• a second electrode comprising a conductive substrate and having a second electrode active portion comprising a second active material layer and a second electrode uncoated portion without the second active material layer,
• wherein the first electrode, the separator, and the second electrode are stacked on each other and wound,
• wherein at least one of the first electrode uncoated portion and the second electrode uncoated portion has a plurality of inclined cutout portions inclined with respect to a length direction of the electrode assembly, and
• wherein an interval between adjacent ones of the inclined cutout portions at a frontal end of the electrode assembly and an interval between adjacent ones of the inclined cutout portions at a rear end of the electrode assembly are different.
