A method, system and computer program product for sharing social media information using a near-field communication (NFC) device is disclosed. The method, system and computer program product includes acts of associating the NFC device with a displayed item such as a consumer product, work of art or audiovisual presentation; transmitting, by the NFC device, one or more components of social media information associated with the displayed item to a wireless interface in proximity with the NFC device; and presenting the one or more components of social media information by a wireless device in communication with the wireless interface. The NFC device is in the form of a coin bearing a logo or name associated with the item and the artist or producer of the displayed item, where the NFC device provides a convenient mechanism to provide social media information to an interested party.
