Abstract
A website building system includes a dynamic layout editor to enable a designer to edit a website comprising components. The dynamic layout editor receives dynamic layout updates triggered by changes to at least one component and applies dynamic layout rules to determine how to update a layout of the website. The at least one component has at least one associated handle to manipulate the at least one component to implement or override the dynamic layout rules. A handle module controls display of the at least one associated handle. The display is triggered according to at least one of: proximity, editing mode and designer editing history.
Claims16
A website building system (WBS), the WBS comprising:
- a dynamic layout editor to enable a designer of said WBS to edit a website comprising components, wherein said dynamic layout editor receives dynamic layout updates triggered by changes to at least one component of said components and applies dynamic layout rules to determine how to update a layout of said website;
- wherein said at least one component has at least one associated handle to manipulate said at least one component to implement or override said dynamic layout rules;
- and
- a handle module to control display of said at least one associated handle;
- wherein said display is triggered according to at least one of:
- proximity, editing mode and said designer editing history.
A method for website building, comprising:
- enabling a designer to edit a website comprising components using a dynamic layout editor;
- receiving dynamic layout updates triggered by changes to at least one component of said components;
- applying dynamic layout rules to determine how to update a layout of said website;
- providing at least one associated handle for said at least one component to manipulate said at least one component to implement or override said dynamic layout rules;
- and
- controlling display of said at least one associated handle;
- wherein said display is triggered according to at least one of:
- proximity, editing mode and said designer editing history.
