Abstract
Techniques for performing an unconditional jump are described. In some examples, an instruction is processed to perform the unconditional jump. In some examples, the instruction is to at least include one or more fields for an opcode and a 64-bit bit immediate, wherein the 64-bit immediate is to encode an absolute address and the opcode is to indicate execution circuitry is jump to the absolute address.
Claims20
An apparatus comprising:
- decoder circuitry to decode an instance of a single instruction, the single instruction to at least include one or more fields for an opcode and a 64-bit bit immediate value, wherein the 64-bit immediate value is to encode an absolute address;
- and
- execution circuitry to execute the decoded instance of the single instruction according to the opcode to jump to the absolute address.
A method comprising:
- decoding an instance of a single instruction, the single instruction to at least include one or more fields for an opcode and a 64-bit bit immediate value, wherein the 64-bit immediate value is to encode an absolute address;
- and
- executing the decoded instance of the single instruction according to the opcode to jump to the absolute address.
A system comprising:
- memory to at least store an instance of a single instruction;
- decoder circuitry to decode the instance of the single instruction, the single instruction to at least include one or more fields for an opcode and a 64-bit bit immediate value, wherein the 64-bit immediate value is to encode an absolute address;
- and
- execution circuitry to execute the decoded instance of the single instruction according to the opcode to jump to the absolute address.
