Abstract
Methods and apparatuses for carrier-phase reporting in WiFi ranging. A method of wireless communication performed by an initiating station (ISTA) comprises: providing one or more mechanisms to report carrier-phase information during a fine timing measurement (FTM) protocol between the ISTA and a responding station (RSTA); enabling, via the carrier-phase information, carrier-phase-based relative ranging; and utilizing the carrier-phase information to modify an accuracy for FTM ranging.

A method of wireless communication performed by an initiating station (ISTA), the method comprising:
- providing one or more mechanisms to report carrier-phase information during a fine timing measurement (FTM) protocol between the ISTA and a responding station (RSTA);
- enabling, via the carrier-phase information, carrier-phase-based relative ranging;
- and
- utilizing the carrier-phase information to modify an accuracy for FTM ranging.
An initiating station (ISTA), comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- a processor operably coupled to the transceiver, the processor configured to:
- provide one or more mechanisms to report carrier-phase information during a fine timing measurement (FTM) protocol between the ISTA and a responding station (RSTA);
- enable, via the carrier-phase information, carrier-phase-based relative ranging;
- and
- utilize the carrier-phase information to modify an accuracy for FTM ranging.
