Abstract
A mobile cargo controller for a cargo handling system is provided. The mobile cargo controller includes at least one inertial measurement unit configured to: identify a true forward position of a cargo compartment in which the cargo handling system operates, determine an orientation of the mobile cargo controller, and, using the true forward position of the cargo compartment and the orientation of the mobile cargo controller, identify a frame of reference for the mobile cargo controller within the cargo compartment.
Claims20
A mobile cargo controller for a cargo handling system, comprising:
- at least one inertial measurement unit configured to:
- identify a true forward position of a cargo compartment in which the cargo handling system operates;
- determine an orientation of the mobile cargo controller;
- and
- using the true forward position of the cargo compartment and the orientation of the mobile cargo controller, identify a frame of reference for the mobile cargo controller within the cargo compartment.
A cargo handling system, comprising:
- a plurality of power drive units (PDUs);
- and
- a mobile cargo controller configured to control each of the plurality of PDUs, wherein the mobile cargo controller comprises:
- at least one inertial measurement unit configured to:
- identify a true forward position of a cargo compartment in which the cargo handling system operates;
- determine an orientation of the mobile cargo controller;
- and
- using the true forward position of the cargo compartment and the orientation of the mobile cargo controller, identify a frame of reference for the mobile cargo controller within the cargo compartment.
An aircraft, comprising:
- a cargo deck;
- and
- a cargo handling system disposed within the cargo deck, the cargo handling system comprising:
- a plurality of power drive units (PDUs);
- and
- a mobile cargo controller configured to control each of the plurality of PDUs, wherein the mobile cargo controller comprises:
- at least one inertial measurement unit configured to:
- identify a true forward position of a cargo compartment in which the cargo handling system operates;
- determine an orientation of the mobile cargo controller;
- and
- using the true forward position of the cargo compartment and the orientation of the mobile cargo controller, identify a frame of reference for the mobile cargo controller within the cargo compartment.
