Abstract
A filtration system and method of using the same. The method comprises the steps of guiding, by alignment rail and mating boss, a filter cartridge into a manifold housing; aligning a filter magnet with a corresponding manifold magnet; rotating, by attractive magnetic forces, the manifold magnet upon rotation of the filter cartridge into an installed position; and actuating, by attractive magnetic forces, a manifold valve.
Claims14
A filtration system comprising:
- a filter manifold having a manifold magnet, a valve, and a shroud, wherein said shroud includes a manifold capture structure;
- and
- a filter cartridge having housing body, a stem extending from a top portion of said housing body, and a filter magnet located proximate said top portion of said housing body;
- wherein said manifold magnet and said filter magnet are in magnetic communication with one another upon rotation such that said filter cartridge is inserted within said shroud, and upon further rotation, said manifold magnet magnetically interacts with said filter magnet, and is capable of actuating said valve.

A method of using a filtration system, comprising:
- providing a filter manifold and a filter cartridge, said filter manifold having a manifold magnet, a valve, and a shroud, wherein said shroud includes a manifold capture structure, said filter cartridge having housing body, a stem extending from a top portion of said housing body, and a filter magnet located proximate said top portion of said housing body, wherein said manifold magnet and said filter magnet are in magnetic communication with one another;
- inserting said filter cartridge into said manifold housing;
- rotating said filter cartridge;
- shifting said manifold magnet via magnetic communication with said filter magnet upon said filter cartridge rotation, wherein said magnetic communication results in a torquing, shear, or repulsion force between the manifold magnet and the filter magnet.

A manifold for a filtration system comprising:
- a manifold magnet comprising an array of correlated magnets;
- a valve for turning fluid ingress to said manifold ON or OFF;
- and a shroud having a predetermined alignment track on an inside surface for receiving a filter cartridge, such that said filter cartridge is guided upon insertion and extraction from said shroud by said alignment track.
