Abstract
The invention provides a system for monitoring a patient featuring a wearable mask coupled to a positive airway pressure machine that delivers a flow of gas at positive pressures, through the mask, and to an airway of the patient. Attached to the mask is an electronics control unit featuring a printed circuit board, a microprocessor, a wireless transmitter, and a battery. The electronics control unit has a weight less than 30 grams and is enclosed by an enclosure of having a volume of less than 180 cm2. A plurality of sensors electrically connect to the electronics control unit.
Claims20
A system for monitoring a patient, comprising:
- a wearable mask coupled to a positive airway pressure (PAP) machine, the wearable mask configured to deliver a flow of gas at positive pressures generated by the PAP machine to an airway of the patient;
- an electronics control unit, attached to the wearable mask and comprising a printed circuit board, a microprocessor, a wireless transmitter, and a battery, the electronics control unit having a weight less than 30 grams and comprised by an enclosure of having a volume of less than 180 cm2;
- and
- at least one sensor electrically connected to the electronics control unit.
The system of claim 15, wherein the breath-analysis sensor comprises at least one of the following sensors:
- a pressure sensor, a humidity sensor, a flow sensor, a temperature sensor, a sensor for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and a sensor for volatile sulfur-containing compounds (VSCs).
A system for monitoring a patient, comprising:
- a wearable mask coupled to a positive airway pressure (PAP) machine, the wearable mask configured to deliver a flow of gas at positive pressures generated by the PAP machine to an airway of the patient;
- an electronics control unit, attached to the wearable mask and comprising a printed circuit board, a microprocessor, a wireless transmitter, and a battery, the electronics control unit having a weight less than 30 grams and comprised by an enclosure of having a volume of less than 180 cm2;
- and,
- a plurality of sensors electrically connected to the electronics control unit, the plurality of sensors comprising at least one of:
- an optical sensor, a microphone, a breath-analysis sensor, an impedance sensor, and an electromyography sensor.
A system for monitoring a patient, comprising a wearable mask coupled to a positive airway pressure (PAP) machine, the wearable mask configured to deliver a flow of gas at positive pressures to an airway of the patient and comprising an electronics control unit having a weight less than 30 grams and comprised by an enclosure of having a volume of less than 180 cm2, the electronics control unit in electrical communication with at least one of the following sensors:
- an optical sensor, a microphone, a breath-analysis sensor, an impedance sensor, and an electromyography sensor.
