Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions comprising one or more probiotic bacterial strains and one or more lipid modifing active ingredients. The compositions can be used in the management of cholesterol and/or hypertension.
Claims17
A method of managing, treating, or preventing hypertension and/or hypercholesterolemia in an individual comprising:
- administering to an individual in need thereof;
- a composition comprising one or more probiotic bacterial strains and one or more lipid modifying active ingredients;
- wherein the one or more probiotic bacterial strains comprises Lactobacillus plantarum ECGC 13110402;
- and
- wherein the one or more lipid modifying active ingredients are selected from the following:
- statins, stanols, sterols, monacolin K, fatty acids, niacin, potassium, soluble fibres and/or prebiotics.
- administering to an individual in need thereof;
- a composition comprising one or more probiotic bacterial strains and one or more lipid modifying active ingredients;
- wherein the one or more probiotic bacterial strains comprises Lactobacillus plantarum ECGC 13110402;
- and
- wherein the one or more lipid modifying active ingredients are selected from the following:
- statins, stanols, sterols, monacolin K, fatty acids, niacin, potassium, soluble fibres and/or prebiotics.
