Fixation Device Having A Flexure Portion

A fixation device for fixation of tissue comprising:

• a central element defining a central axis of the fixation device;
• first and second arms each being coupled to the central element and being moveable between an open and closed position thereof;
• and
• first and second gripping elements respectively disposed opposite the first and second arms and being moveable relative thereto to capture tissue therebetween, the first and second gripping elements each having a first end, a free end, a first portion, and a second portion, the first portion extending from the first end, and the second portion extending from the first portion to the free end and being bent toward the respective first and second arms such that the second portion is angled relative to the first portion.

A fixation device for fixation of tissue comprising:

• a central element defining a central axis of the fixation device;
• first and second arms each being coupled to the central element and being moveable between an open and closed position thereof;
• and
• first and second gripping elements respectively disposed opposite the first and second arms and being moveable relative thereto to capture tissue therebetween, the first and second gripping elements each having a first end, a free end, a first portion, and a second portion, the first portion extending from the first end and defining a longitudinal axis thereof, and the second portion extending from the first portion to the free end and being angled relative the longitudinal axis of the first portion and toward the respective first and second arms.
