Provided are cytoplasts (enucleated cells), methods for making cytoplasts, compositions comprising cytoplasts, and methods for using cytoplasts.

A method of producing a cytoplast expressing a cytokine, comprising:
- (a) providing a parent cell comprising:
- (i) a nucleus;
- and
- (ii) one or more intracellular organelles for in vivo protein synthesis and protein secretion;
- (b) mechanically removing the nucleus from the parent cell to produce the cytoplast comprising the one or more intracellular organelles,
- (c) introducing an exogenous mRNA molecule encoding a functional polypeptide to the cytoplast, wherein the exogenous mRNA molecule is expressed by the cytoplast.
