Performance prediction for virtualized gaming applications

A computing system comprising:

• memory;
• a network interface;
• and
• one or more processors operably coupled to the memory and the network interface and configured to:
• receive, from a computing device and via the network interface, an indication of one or more device characteristics of the computing device;
• determine, using a gaming performance model trained using machine learning to determine predicted performance scores of a gaming application and based at least in part on the one or more device characteristics of the computing device and one or more application characteristics of the gaming application, a predicted performance of the gaming application when executing in a virtualized environment at the computing device;
• and
• send, via the network interface and to the computing device, an indication of the predicted performance of the gaming application when executing in the virtualized environment at the computing device.

A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause one or more processors of a computing system to:

• receive, from a computing device, an indication of one or more device characteristics of the computing device;
• determine, using a gaming performance model trained using machine learning to determine predicted performance scores of a gaming application and based at least in part on the one or more device characteristics of the computing device and one or more application characteristics of the gaming application, a predicted performance of the gaming application when executing in a virtualized environment at the computing device;
• and
• send, to the computing device, an indication of the predicted performance of the gaming application when executing in the virtualized environment at the computing device.
