A device, system, and computer program product for automatically switching between quality modes for an application based on a difference of pixel values between the first frame and another frame of the application at least meets a first threshold. The device includes an application renderer configured to render a first frame of an application in a first quality mode. The application renderer is further configured to switch to rendering the application in a second quality mode when a delta of pixel values between the first frame and another frame of the application at least meets a first threshold. The pixel values may be chrominance and/or luminance values. Rendering settings of the second quality mode may be chosen based on the delta of pixel values. There may be different thresholds for the pixel delta and adjustment of each rendering setting may be performed based on meeting different thresholds.
