Abstract
Devices and techniques for vagus nerve stimulation. A device includes a power source; a pair of electrodes having an interelectrode distance defined to facilitate vagus nerve stimulation; and a controller configured to control current delivered from the power source to the pair of electrodes in a continuous stimulation pattern. Certain devices discussed herein are designed to be applied at a carotid triangle of a neck of a subject. Other devices discussed herein are designed to be applied to a cymba concha of an ear of a subject.
Claims29
A device, comprising:
- a power source;
- a pair of electrodes, wherein the pair of electrodes is electrically connected to the power source, wherein the pair of electrodes is adapted to apply a current delivered from the power source to stimulate a vagus nerve of a subject, wherein an interelectrode distance between the pair of electrodes is defined based on a predetermined height of a carotid triangle;
- and
- a controller, wherein the controller is communicatively connected to the power source, wherein the controller is configured to send control signals in order to control the current delivered from the power source to the pair of electrodes in a continuous stimulation pattern.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions for causing a processing circuitry to execute a process, the process comprising:
- sending control signals in order to control current delivered from a power source to a pair of electrodes in a continuous biphasic stimulation pattern, wherein the pair of electrodes is spaced such that the pair of electrodes applies a current to stimulate a vagus nerve of a subject using a current delivered from the power source when the pair of electrodes is disposed along a carotid triangle of the subject.
A system for vagus nerve stimulation, comprising:
- a processing circuitry;
- and
- a memory, the memory containing instructions that, when executed by the processing circuitry, configure the system to:
- send control signals in order to control current delivered from a power source to a pair of electrodes in a continuous biphasic stimulation pattern, wherein the pair of electrodes is spaced such that the pair of electrodes applies a current to stimulate a vagus nerve of a subject using a current delivered from the power source when the pair of electrodes is disposed along a carotid triangle of the subject.
A device, comprising:
- a power source;
- a pair of electrodes, wherein the pair of electrodes is electrically connected to the power source, wherein the pair of electrodes is adapted to apply a current delivered from the power source to stimulate a vagus nerve of a subject, wherein an interelectrode distance between the pair of electrodes is defined based on a predetermined height of a cymba concha;
- and
- a controller, wherein the controller is communicatively connected to the power source, wherein the controller is configured to send control signals in order to control the current delivered from the power source to the pair of electrodes in a continuous biphasic stimulation pattern.
