Abstract
The present invention is directed to compositions comprising semifluorinated compounds and their use as medicaments for topical administration to the eye.
Claims15
A composition comprising CF3(CF2)5(CH2)7CH3 and CF3—(CF2)5—CH(CH3)—(CH2)5—CH3.
The composition according to any preceding claim comprising about 97 wt % of CF3(CF2)5(CH2)7CH3 and up to about 3 wt % of CF3—(CF2)5—CH(CH3)—(CH2)5—CH3.
The composition according to any preceding claim, being formulated as a clear liquid solution.
The composition of any preceding claim, being substantially free of:
- (a) a polymer,
- (b) a perfluorinated compound, and/or
- (c) a dissolved pharmacologically active ingredient.
The composition of any preceding claim, having a dynamic viscosity of not more than 10 mPa's, and preferably not more than 4 mPa's, at ambient temperature and pressure.
A method of treating a disease or condition of a patient in need of such treatment, comprising administering the composition according to any of the preceding claims to the patient.
