Implantable electrode positioning

A device for estimating a position of an implantable lead relative to a nerve, the device comprising:

• a controller connectable to the implantable lead, the implantable lead comprising a plurality of stimulation electrodes configured to apply stimulation to the nerve and at least one measurement electrode configured to measure evoked compound action potentials (ECAPs) on the nerve,
• the controller being configured to:
• apply stimulation to the nerve using the plurality of stimulation electrodes;
• use the at least one measurement electrode of the implantable lead to measure:
• ECAPs evoked by a first stimulation applied to the nerve by the implantable lead;
• ECAPs evoked by a second stimulation applied to a peripheral nerve;
• and
• estimate the position of the implantable lead by determining one or more stimulation electrodes that generate a maximal measured ECAP collision of the ECAPs evoked by the first stimulation and the ECAPs evoked by the second stimulation.

A system for estimating a position of an implantable lead relative to a nerve, the system comprising:

• an implantable lead comprising a plurality of stimulation electrodes configured to apply stimulation to the nerve and at least one measurement electrode configured to measure evoked compound action potentials (ECAPs) on the nerve;
• and
• a stimulator that is connectable to the implantable lead;
• wherein the stimulator comprises a controller configured to:
• apply stimulation to the nerve using the plurality of stimulation electrodes;
• use the at least one measurement electrode of the implantable lead to measure:
• ECAPs evoked by a first stimulation applied to the nerve by the implantable lead;
• ECAPs evoked by a second stimulation applied to a peripheral nerve;
• and
• estimate the position of the implantable lead by determining one or more stimulation electrodes that generate a maximal measured ECAP collision of the ECAPs evoked by the first stimulation and the ECAPs evoked by the second stimulation.
