Marine propulsion system

A marine propulsion system comprising a power generating unit, a bus line and a propelling line powered by the power generating unit wherein the power generating unit comprises at least one motion generator, for example, an Otto or Diesel cycle internal combustion engine or gas turbine, and an electric generator driven by the motion generator, the electric generator comprising

• a stator comprising at least a first armature for powering the bus line,
• at least a second armature for powering the propelling line,
• a first rotor, driven by the motion generator and common to the first and the second armature,
• the propulsion system comprising a propulsion unit comprising a propelling system and at least one electric motor for driving the propelling system, the electric motor comprising a stator provided with at least a first winding that is powerable by the bus line and at least a second winding that is powerable by the propelling line, the electric motor comprising a second rotor that is drivable by the first and second windings, the propelling line being distinct from the bus line.
