System and method for offloading devices in a cellular network

A method for offloading a user equipment, said method (1000) comprising:

• collecting, by a processor (502), one or more data parameters from the user equipment in a first network system,
• identifying, by the processor (502), a number of user equipments in the first network system to be offloaded based on the one or more data parameters;
• determining, by the processor (502), whether the identified number of user equipments meet one or more offloading criteria;
• and
• triggering, by the processor (502), the offloading of the identified number of user equipments from the first network system to a second network system based on determining that the identified number of user equipments meet the one or more offloading criteria.

A user equipment (402) in a first network system, said user equipment (402) comprising:

• one or more processors communicatively coupled to an offloading system (410), wherein the one or more processors are configured to:
• transmit a subscription request to the offloading system (410);
• receive a subscription response from the offloading system (410), wherein the subscription response comprises a unique identifier associated to the user equipment (402);
• and
• in response to reception of the subscription response, provide one or more data parameters to the offloading system (410),
• wherein the offloading system (410) comprises a processor (502) configured to:
• identify the user equipment (402) for offloading based on the one or more data parameters;
• determine whether the user equipment (402) meets one or more offloading criteria;
• and
• trigger the offloading of the user equipment (402) from the first network system to a second network system based on a determination that the user equipment (402) meets the one or more offloading criteria.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising processor-executable instructions that cause a processor to:

• collect one or more data parameters from a user equipment (402);
• identify a number of user equipments (402) to be offloaded based on the one or more data parameters;
• determine whether the identified number of user equipments (402) meet one or more offloading criteria;
• and
• trigger the offloading of the identified number of user equipments (402) from a first network system to a second network system based on a determination that the identified number of user equipments (402) meet the one or more offloading criteria.
