Abstract
A multi-input interface device includes one or more units. The one or more units include one or more sensor units positioned within a portion of the one or more units and configured to detect a first relative movement of the one or more units. The multi-input interface device includes one or more auxiliary units. The one or more auxiliary units include one or more auxiliary sensor units positioned within a portion of the one or more auxiliary units and configured to detect a second relative movement of the one or more auxiliary units. The one or more units and the one or more auxiliary units are formed as separate units. The one or more units and the one or more auxiliary units are configured to be operated by a user.
Claims20
A multi-input interface device, comprising:
- a housing;
- a first sensor unit positioned within the housing and comprising a first optical sensor;
- and
- a second sensor unit positioned within the housing and comprising a second optical sensor;
- wherein the first optical sensor is configured to detect a translational movement of the multi-input interface device;
- and wherein the second optical sensor is configured to detect a rotational movement of the multi-input interface device.
A method of detecting movement of a multi-input interface device, the method comprising:
- detecting, by a first optical sensor, a translational movement of the multi-input interface device, wherein the first optical sensor is included in a first sensor unit positioned within a housing of the multi-input interface device;
- detecting, by a second optical sensor, a rotational movement of the multi-input interface device, wherein the second optical sensor is included in a second sensor unit positioned within the housing;
- and
- communicating, to a computing system via an interface module, data indicative of the translational movement and data indicative of the rotational movement, wherein the computing system translates the data indicative of the translational movement and the data indicative of the rotational movement into an operation.
