Abstract
A bead blast cabinet that improves visual inspection of work pieces during a bead blasting operation. The cabinet includes a forced air camera wherein an air flow is directed through a camera tube and past a camera lens. The adjustability of the air flow past the camera is adjustable to accommodate the density of the debris cloud within the cabinet during operation. A zoom in and out capability of the camera will be controlled through the module via the multi-function switch. The camera will be designed to capture many types of light forms to achieve the most efficient lighting selection for each type of object or material to be bead blasted within the cabinet.
Claims11
A surface preparation method comprising the steps of:
- constructing an enclosed cabinet for either wet bead blasting or dry bead blasting;
- positioning a blast gun having a forced air camera secured thereto having zoom in/out capabilities within said cabinet;
- adjusting compressed air velocity, pressure and cfm to said blast gun and said forced air camera;
- directing a flow of abrasives through said blast gun;
- coordinating with a control module wherein all functions/components/equipment for said cabinet is powered up simultaneously or individually by an operator via a thumb switch mounted on said blast gun;
- relaying real time images from said forced air camera to an external monitor with said compressed air keeping the forced air camera lens clean.
A bead blast gun, comprising:
- a blast gun body having a thumb switch electronically coupled to a control module;
- a water rinse nozzle and an air blow gun nozzle disposed on a firing end of said bead blast gun;
- a blast gun trigger disposed on said blast gun body, wherein said blast gun trigger activates a control valve to open and close said valve to direct a compressed air stream to said blast gun;
- and
- a forced air camera housed within a tube mounted to said blast gun body and electronically coupled to said control module, said forced air camera fluidly coupled to said compressed air stream, wherein said compressed air stream prevents any wet/dry debris or abrasive from degrading or clouding the camera lens.
