Apparatus and method of communication based on extended bandwidth and multi-resource unit in wireless local area network system

A first device configured to communicate with at least one second device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system, the first device comprising:

• a transceiver configured to transmit a physical layer protocol data unit (PPDU) to the at least one second device,
• wherein the transceiver comprises a signal processor configured to:
• allocate a multi-resource unit (RU) to a second device within a bandwidth;
• generate at least one subfield defining the multi-RU;
• generate a trigger frame comprising a user information field comprising the at least one subfield;
• and
• generate the PPDU comprising the trigger frame,
• wherein the multi-RU includes at least two single RUs,
• wherein the signal processor is configured to allocate the multi-RU including at least two single RUs separated within the bandwidth by an unallocated RU when each of the at least two single RUs is equal to or greater than a 242-tone RU, and
• wherein the signal processor is configured not to allocate the multi-RU including at least two single RUs separated within the bandwidth by an unallocated RU when each of the at least two single RUs is smaller than a 242-tone RU.

A method of communicating, by a second device, with a first device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system, the method comprising:

• receiving a physical protocol layer data unit (PPDU) including at least one subfield from the first device;
• and
• extracting the at least one subfield defining a multi-resource unit (RU) allocated to the second device within a bandwidth, the multi-RU including at least two single RUs,
• wherein the at least two single RUs are separated within the bandwidth by an unallocated RU only when each of the at least two single RUs is equal to or greater than a 242-tone RU.

A method of communicating, by a first device, with at least one second device in a wireless local area network (WLAN) system, the method comprising:

• allocating a multi-resource unit (RU) within a bandwidth to the at least one second device, the multi-RU including at least two single RUs;
• generating at least one subfield defining the multi-RU;
• and
• transmitting a physical protocol layer data unit (PPDU) including the at least one subfield to the at least one second device,
• wherein each of the at least two single RUs is equal to or greater than a 242-tone RU when the at least two single RUs are separated within the bandwidth by an unallocated RU, and
• wherein the at least two single RUs are allocated contiguously within the bandwidth when the multi-RU is smaller than a 242-tone RU.
