Abstract
Techniques for controlling the maximum transmission power utilized by transmitters of user equipment are provided. More specifically, a base station may control a transmission power of a transmitter of user equipment that is communicatively coupled to the base station to cause the transmission power of the transmitter to comply with regulations of a geographic location that the user equipment is in. In addition to the base station, the user equipment may control the transmission power of the transmitter. In either case, the transmission power may be based on whether the user equipment is located indoors or outdoors, whether the base station is deployed indoors or outdoors, or both.
Claims20
User equipment, comprising:
- one or more antennas;
- a receiver coupled to the one or more antennas;
- a transmitter coupled to the one or more antennas;
- and
- processing circuitry configured to:
- receive an indication of whether a base station is located within a building or outside of the building;
- determine whether the user equipment is located within the building or outside of the building based on the base station being located within the building;
- and
- cause the transmitter to transmit data using a first transmission power based on the user equipment being located within the building.
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- receiving, via processing circuitry associated with user equipment, an indication that a base station is located indoors;
- determining, via the processing circuitry, the user equipment is located indoors based on the indication that the base station is located indoors;
- and
- instructing, via the processing circuitry, a transmitter associated with the user equipment to transmit data using a first transmission power based on the user equipment being located indoors.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to:
- receive an indication of whether a base station is located indoors or outdoors;
- determine whether user equipment is located indoors or outdoors based on the base station being located indoors;
- cause a transmitter of the user equipment to transmit data using a first transmission power based on the user equipment being located indoors;
- and
- cause the transmitter to transmit data using a second transmission power lower than the first transmission power based on the user equipment being located outdoors.
