Measurement Configuration in NR-DC

A wireless device, wherein the wireless device is operating with dual connectivity to a Master node and a Secondary node, and wherein the Master node and the Secondary node are both New Radio (NR) nodes, the wireless device comprising:

• processing circuitry;
• memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the wireless device is operative to:
• receive measurement and/or reporting configuration information from a network;
• determine, that the received measurement and/or reporting configuration information relates to the Master Cell Group if the measurement and/or reporting configuration information is received directly within an RRCReconfiguration message received via Signal Radio Bearer 1 (SRB1);
• or
• determining that the received measurement and/or reporting configuration information relates to the Secondary Cell Group if the measurement and/or reporting configuration information is received in an RRCReconfiguration message that is embedded within an RRCReconfiguration message received via SRB1;
• and
• perform measurements and/or reporting measurement results based on the determination as to whether the received measurement and/or reporting configuration information relates to the Master Cell Group or the Secondary Cell Group;
• and
• power supply circuitry configured to supply power to the processing circuitry.

A method performed by a gNB node of a New Radio (NR) Radio Access Technology (RAT), wherein the gNB is a Master node to a wireless device operating with dual connectivity to the Master node and a NR Secondary node, the method comprising:

• determining measurement and/or reporting configuration information for the wireless device relating to a Master Cell Group;
• receiving from the Secondary node measurement and/or reporting configuration information for the wireless device relating to a Secondary Cell Group;
• sending to the wireless device an RRCReconfiguration message Signal Radio Bearer 1 (SRB1), wherein the RRCReconfiguration message includes one or both of:
• the measurement and/or reporting configuration information relating to the Master Cell Group directly within the RRCReconfiguration message;
• and
• the measurement and/or reporting configuration information relating to the Secondary Cell Group within an RRCReconfiguration message that is embedded within the RRCReconfiguration message.

A network node configured as a gNB of a New Radio (NR) Radio Access Technology (RAT), wherein the gNB is a Master node to a wireless device operating with dual connectivity to the Master node and a NR Secondary node, the network node comprising:

• processing circuitry;
• memory containing instructions executable by the processing circuitry whereby the network node is operative to:
• determine measurement and/or reporting configuration information for the wireless device relating to a Master Cell Group;
• receive from the Secondary node measurement and/or reporting configuration information for the wireless device relating to a Secondary Cell Group;
• send to the wireless device an RRCReconfiguration message Signal Radio Bearer 1 (SRB1), wherein the RRCReconfiguration message includes one or both of:
• the measurement and/or reporting configuration information relating to the Master Cell Group directly within the RRCReconfiguration message;
• and
• the measurement and/or reporting configuration information relating to the Secondary Cell Group within an RRCReconfiguration message that is embedded within the RRCReconfiguration message;
• and
• power supply circuitry configured to supply power to the processing circuitry.
