Abstract
A method for designing a wireless network generally involves identifying a site location as a candidate for a base-station installation, generating an analysis of the identified site location characterizing suitability for the base-station installation, and generating a decision to install a base-station at the identified site location based on the generated analysis.
Claims16
A method for designing a wireless network, comprising:
- selecting a plurality of sets of site locations as candidates for base-station installation;
- determining which of the selected plurality of sets of site locations can be connected via a backhaul connection to a service provider's network;
- for each of the selected plurality of sets of site locations which are determined can be connected via a backhaul connection to the service provider's network:
- generating a combined viewshed vector indicating customer locations included in a viewshed of an antenna of a base-station at the selected set of site locations that are able to be served by the base-stations;
- generating a metric based on the combined viewshed vector for the selected set of site locations;
- ranking the selected plurality of sets of site locations based on their respective metric;
- and
- generating a decision to install base-stations at one of the selected plurality of sets of site locations based on the ranking.
Non-transitory computer readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor of a system, the instructions cause the system to perform operations for designing a wireless network, comprising:
- selecting a plurality of sets of site locations as candidates for base-station installation;
- determining which of the selected plurality of sets of site locations can be connected via a backhaul connection to a service provider's network;
- for each of the selected plurality of sets of site locations which are determined can be connected via a backhaul connection to the service provider's network:
- generating a combined viewshed vector indicating customer locations included in a viewshed of an antenna of a base-station at the selected set of site locations that are able to be served by the base-stations;
- generating a metric based on the combined viewshed vector for the selected set of site locations;
- ranking the selected plurality of sets of site locations based on their respective metric;
- and
- generating a decision to install base-stations at one of the selected plurality of sets of site locations based on the ranking.
