Selective privacy filtering for online conferences

An apparatus comprising:

• a memory;
• a network interface configured to enable network communications;
• and
• a processor, wherein the processor is configured to perform operations comprising:
• connecting, by the network interface, a participant to a collaboration session in which the participant communicates with at least one other participant using audio and/or video which is distributed in a media stream to the at least one other participant via a respective user device;
• detecting, by the apparatus, at least one of an object within a space that is included in the video, and an audio signal;
• determining whether the audio signal is an audio utterance of a person that is included in participant list information;
• and
• selectively filtering the media stream to exclude the audio signal based on the participant list information by removing the audio signal of the person determined to be an inadvertent participant that is not included in the participant list information.

One or more non-transitory computer readable storage media encoded with instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to execute a method comprising:

• connecting a participant to a collaboration session in which the participant communicates with at least one other participant using audio and/or video which is distributed in a media stream to the at least one other participant via a respective user device;
• detecting at least one of an object within a space that is included in the video, and an audio signal;
• determining whether the audio signal is an audio utterance of a person that is included in participant list information;
• and
• selectively filtering the media stream to exclude the audio signal based on the participant list information by removing the audio signal of the person determined to be an inadvertent participant that is not included in the participant list information.
