Abstract
Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communications by an apparatus. The method includes determining whether to broadcast a discovery signal based at least in part on a geographical location of the apparatus. The method further includes broadcasting the discovery signal when it is determined to broadcast the discovery signal.

A method for wireless communication by an apparatus, the method comprising:
- determining whether to broadcast a discovery signal based at least in part on a geographical location of the apparatus;
- and
- broadcasting the discovery signal when it is determined to broadcast the discovery signal.
A method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:
- receiving, from a base station, side information indicating one or more parameters for receiving a discovery signal in one or more geographical areas without cellular coverage available;
- and
- receiving, from an apparatus, the discovery signal in a geographical area of the one or more geographical areas without cellular coverage available based on the side information.
An apparatus comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor coupled to the memory, the memory and the processor configured to cause the apparatus to:
- determine whether to broadcast a discovery signal based at least in part on a geographical location of the apparatus;
- and
- broadcast the discovery signal when it is determined to broadcast the discovery signal.

- receive, from a base station, side information indicating one or more parameters for receiving a discovery signal in one or more geographical areas without cellular coverage available;

- receive, from an apparatus, the discovery signal in a geographical area of the one or more geographical areas without cellular coverage available based on the side information.
