Secondary battery assembly

An electrode plate assembly for a secondary battery module, the electrode plate assembly comprising:

• a plurality of cells arranged in a vertical stack;
• a top terminal plate arranged above the stack and in electrical contact with a top one of the cells;
• a top terminal contact;
• and
• a flexible busbar electrically connecting the top terminal contact to the top terminal plate, thereby allowing for the top terminal plate to move relative the top terminal contact in response to the stack swelling and shrinking,
• wherein:
• each cell of the stack comprises a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and a separator;
• the separator is interposed between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate and configured to allow ions to move between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate;
• and
• neighbouring cells of the stack are arranged such that the positive electrode plate of a first one of the neighbouring cells is contacting the negative electrode plate of the other one of the neighbouring cells.
