Secure healthcare data processing

An algorithm service, comprising one or more processors, memory, and a network interface, the memory programmed with machine executable instructions which, when executed on the processor(s) cause:

• (a) the network interface to establish a secure channel of communication between the algorithm service and a host device, the host device residing within a first computer-network and the algorithm service residing within a second computer-network different to the first computer-network;
• (b) the algorithm service to receive, from the host device via the secure channel of communication:
• an identification of an algorithm to be applied to healthcare data held by the host device, and
• the healthcare data to which the algorithm is to be applied;
• (c) the algorithm service to apply the identified algorithm to the healthcare data to arrive at a result;
• and
• (e) the algorithm service to transmit, to the host device via the secure channel of communication, the result of applying the identified algorithm to the healthcare data.

A system comprising:

• a host device residing within a first computer-network, and
• an algorithm service residing within a second computer-network different to the first computer network;
• the host device and/or the algorithm service being configured to:
• establish a secure channel of communication between the host device and the algorithm service;
• the host device being configured to:
• transmit, to the algorithm service via the secure channel of communication:
• an identification of an algorithm to be applied to healthcare data held by the host device, and
• the healthcare data to which the identified algorithm is to be applied;
• the algorithm service being configured to
• apply the identified algorithm to the healthcare data to arrive at a result;
• and
• transmit, to the host device via the secure channel of communication, the result of applying the identified algorithm to the healthcare data.
