Abstract
A system and method for improving payload delivery utilizing environmental factors is disclosed. The method includes receiving a request for delivery of a payload, the request including a destination location; determining an optimal height for a release of the payload at the destination location, wherein the payload is delivered by a UAV configured to hover at the destination location; generating a navigation plan including a flight path having an origin point and the destination location; and configuring the UAV to execute the navigation plan and release the payload at the destination location from the determined optimal height.
Claims20
A method for using an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to deliver a payload to a specified location by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), comprising:
- receiving a request for delivery of the payload, the request including a destination location and a predetermined height from which the payload should be delivered;
- generating a navigation plan including a flight path from an origin point to the destination location;
- configuring the UAV to execute the navigation plan;
- determining an optimal height for a release of the payload at the destination location, wherein the optimal height for release is determined based on the predetermined height and on environmental conditions at the destination location that are determined based on measurements taken by the UAV, and wherein the payload is delivered by the UAV configured to hover at the destination location;
- and
- releasing the payload by the UAV at the destination location when the UAV arrives at the destination location pursuant to the navigation plan and is hovering at the destination location at the determined optimal height.
A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions for causing a processing circuitry to execute a process for delivering a payload to a specified location by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the process comprising:
- receiving a request for delivery of the payload, the request including a destination location and a predetermined height from which the payload should be delivered;
- generating a navigation plan including a flight path from an origin point to the destination location;
- configuring the UAV to execute the navigation plan;
- determining an optimal height for a release of the payload at the destination location, wherein the optimal height for release is determined based on the predetermined height and on environmental conditions at the destination location that are determined based on measurements taken by the UAV, and wherein the payload is delivered by the UAV configured to hover at the destination location;
- and
- release the payload by the UAV at the destination location from when the UAV arrives at the destination location pursuant to the navigation plan and is hovering at the destination location at the determined optimal height.
A system for delivering a payload to a specified location by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), comprising:
- a processing circuitry;
- and
- a memory, the memory containing instructions that, when executed by the processing circuitry, configure the system to:
- receive a request for delivery of the payload, the request including a destination location and a predetermined height from which the payload should be delivered;
- generate a navigation plan including a flight path from an origin point to the destination location;
- configure the UAV to execute the navigation plan;
- determine an optimal height for a release of the payload at the destination location, wherein the optimal height for release is determined based on the predetermined height and on environmental conditions at the destination location that are determined based on measurements taken by the UAV, and wherein the payload is delivered by the UAV configured to hover at the destination location;
- and
- release the payload by the UAV at the destination location when the UAV arrives at the destination location pursuant to the navigation plan and is hovering at the destination location at the determined optimal height.
