Method and a host device for accessing data from a data storage device

A host device for accessing data from a data storage device, the host device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• a memory storing processor-executable instructions, which, on execution, cause the one or more processors to:
• transmit a request including a first part to the data storage device, based on an availability of memory in the host device,
• wherein the first part comprises data access information and one or more parameters for accessing data corresponding to the request from the data storage device;
• receive a first notification from the data storage device, indicating a transfer of the data to a storage buffer associated with the data storage device;
• and
• access the data from the data storage device by transmitting a second part of the request to the data storage device, the second part comprising buffer information associated with a host buffer of the host device,
• wherein the data is transferred by the data storage device from the storage buffer to the host buffer of the host device using the buffer information.
