Abstract
Described herein are borate salts useful as additives, binders, and electrolyte salts for solid state lithium ion batteries. In particular, the borate salts of Formula (I), Formula (II) and Formula (III) as described herein: can be bound to an existing polymer to provide polymeric binders for ceramic solid state electrolytes that are themselves capable of ion transport independent of the ceramic.
Claims19
A single-ion conducting polymer-ceramic composite comprising particles of a lithium ion conducting ceramic in a matrix of a single-ion conducting polymer;
- wherein the single-ion conducting polymer is formed by reacting a bis(2-allyl-2-fluoromalonato)borate salt with a polymeric substrate that comprises one or more functional groups that are reactive with allyl substituents of the bis(2-allyl-2-fluoromalonato)borate salt.
A single-ion conducting polymer-ceramic composite comprising particles of a lithium-lanthanum-zirconium oxide in a matrix of a single-ion conducting polymer;
- wherein the single-ion conducting polymer is formed by reacting a bis(2-allyl-2-fluoromalonato)borate salt with thiol groups of a polymeric substrate that comprises one or more thiol groups.
