The present disclosure relates to compounds, compositions, and methods useful for treating Parkinson's disease. Alzheimer's disease, and multiple sclerosis.

A compound of formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- wherein
- R1 is selected from H, alkyl, acyl, alkoxyl, acyloxyl, and —N(R2)2;
- each R2 is independently selected from H, alkyl, and acyl;
- R3 is selected from H, alkyl, acyl, alkoxyl, acyloxyl, and acylamino;
- and
- R4 is selected from H, alkyl, acyl, —CH2—NH2, —CH2—N3 and —CH2—O—R5, wherein R5 is selected from alkyl and acyl.

The compound of formula (I), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, having the structure of formula (II):
A compound of formula (III), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- wherein R1 is selected from H and C1-C4 alkyl;
- and
- R2 is C1-C4 alkyl.
A compound of formula (IV), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- wherein R1 is selected from H and C1-C4 alkyl;
- and
