A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium embodying a set of instructions, which when executed by one or more processing resources of a distributed storage system, cause the distributed storage system to:
- maintain information regarding a state of data replication between a primary volume and a secondary volume of a plurality of volume pairs, wherein the primary volume of a given volume pair of the plurality of volume pairs is a member of a local consistency group (CG) of a primary cluster of a distributed storage system on which a primary dataset is stored and the secondary volume of the given volume pair is a member of a remote CG of a secondary cluster of the distributed storage system on which a mirror copy of the primary dataset is stored;
- and
- bring a first volume pair of the plurality of volume pairs for which the state of data replication is out-of-synchronization into synchronization, by selectively employing one or more of a first resynchronization process and a second resynchronization process.
