Abstract
A fiber assembly includes multi-core fibers each having a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end are distinguishable from each other. The multi-core fibers are bundled such that: the first end of one of the multi-core fibers is closer to a first end of the fiber assembly than to a second end of the fiber assembly, and the second end of another of the multi-core fibers is closer to the first end of the fiber assembly than to the second end of the fiber assembly.

A fiber assembly comprising:
- multi-core fibers each having a first end and
- a second end, wherein
- the first end and the second end are distinguishable from each other,
- the multi-core fibers are bundled such that:
- the first end of one of the multi-core fibers is closer to a first end of the fiber assembly than to a second end of the fiber assembly, and
- the second end of another of the multi-core fibers is closer to the first end of the fiber assembly than to the second end of the fiber assembly.
A method for manufacturing a fiber assembly that comprises multi-core fibers each having a first end and a second end, the first end and the second end being distinguishable from each other, the method comprising the steps of:
- aligning the multi-core fibers such that:
- the first end of one of the multi-core fibers is closer to a first end of the fiber assembly than a second end of the fiber assembly, and
- a second end of another of the multi-core fibers is closer to the first end of the fiber assembly than the second end of the fiber assembly;
- and
- bundling the multi-core fibers.
