Abstract
Example aspects of a tight-seal piping component, a tight-seal piping assembly, and a method for preventing leaking in a piping assembly are disclosed. The tight-seal piping component can comprise a fitting body defining a fitting inner surface, a fitting outer surface opposite the fitting inner surface, a first fitting end, and a second fitting end opposite the first fitting end, the fitting inner surface defining: an interior channel defining a fitting axis; a seal stop surface within the interior channel; and internal threading between first fitting end and the seal stop surface, the internal threading defining straight threading extending in a direction about perpendicular to the fitting axis; and a seal received within interior channel and abutting seal stop surface.
Claims20
A tight-seal piping assembly, comprising:
- a fitting body extending from a first fitting end to a second fitting end and comprising:
- an outer surface extending from the first fitting end to the second fitting end;
- an inner surface opposite the outer surface and defining a central axis and an interior channel, the inner surface comprising a first threading, a second threading, and an inner flange defining a seal stop surface;
- and
- a seal received within the interior channel and abutting the seal stop surface;
- and
- a piping component comprising a piping end defining a pipe engagement surface, a threaded outer surface, and a piping shoulder on the outer surface.
A tight-seal piping assembly comprising:
- a fitting defining a fitting channel and a fitting inner surface comprising a first seal stop surface and a second seal stop surface, the fitting comprising:
- a first seal received within the fitting channel and compressed against the first seal stop surface;
- and
- a second seal received within the fitting channel and compressed against the second seal stop surface;
- a first piping component defining a first piping end and an outer piping surface comprising a first piping shoulder, the first piping shoulder abutting the fitting when the first piping end compresses the first seal;
- and
- a second piping component defining a second piping end and an outer piping surface comprising a second piping shoulder, the second piping shoulder abutting the fitting when the second piping end compresses the second seal.
A method of joining a piping assembly, the method comprising:
- inserting a piping end of a piping component within an interior channel of a fitting body;
- engaging the fitting body by rotating the piping component relative to the fitting body to advance the piping end of the piping component through the interior channel;
- and
- creating a fluid-tight seal between the fitting body and the piping component by compressing a seal between a seal stop surface of the fitting body and the piping end.
