Abstract
Systems and methods for providing navigation indicators for an elongate device include a system configured to determine a pose of the elongate device within a passageway; and based on the pose of the elongate device, display on the display system: an image of the passageway, and one or more navigation indicators associated with one or more directions within a workspace containing the passageway, wherein the one or more navigation indicators are displayed over the image of the passageway.
Claims25
A system, comprising:
- an elongate device;
- a display system;
- one or more processors;
- and
- memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- determine a pose of the elongate device within a passageway;
- and
- based on the pose of the elongate device, display on the display system:
- an image of the passageway, and
- one or more navigation indicators associated with one or more directions within a workspace containing the passageway, wherein the one or more navigation indicators are displayed over the image of the passageway;
- wherein:
- the one or more navigation indicators comprise an indicator of a direction within the workspace relative to a distal end of the elongate device;
- and
- the direction within the workspace comprises an anterior direction, a posterior direction, a lateral direction, a medial direction, a superior direction, an inferior direction, or a cardinal direction.

One or more non-transitory machine-readable media comprising a plurality of machine-readable instructions which when executed by one or more processors are adapted to cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:
- determining a pose of an elongate device within a passageway;
- and
- based on the pose of the elongate device, displaying on a display system:
- an image of the passageway, and
- one or more navigation indicators associated with one or more directions within a workspace containing the passageway, wherein the one or more navigation indicators are displayed over the image of the passageway;
- wherein:
- the one or more navigation indicators comprise an indicator of a direction within the workspace relative to a distal end of the elongate device;
- and
- the direction within the workspace comprises an anterior direction, a posterior direction, a lateral direction, a medial direction, a superior direction, an inferior direction, or a cardinal direction.
A method of providing navigation assistance for an instrument, the method comprising:
- determining, by one or more processors, a pose of an elongate device within a passageway;
- and
- based on the pose of the elongate device, displaying, by the one or more processors on a display system:
- an image of the passageway, and
- one or more navigation indicators associated with one or more directions within a workspace containing the passageway, wherein the one or more navigation indicators are displayed over the image of the passageway;
- wherein:
- the one or more navigation indicators comprise an indicator of a direction within the workspace relative to a distal end of the elongate device;
- and
- the direction within the workspace comprises an anterior direction, a posterior direction, a lateral direction, a medial direction, a superior direction, an inferior direction, or a cardinal direction.
