A device for delivering a biocompatible patch material to a biological site, the device comprising:
- a housing comprising:
- a cocking mechanism;
- an activation button to release the cocking mechanism;
- and
- a needle cartridge recess;
- and
- a needle cartridge removably received by the needle cartridge recess of the housing, the needle cartridge comprising:
- a storage cell containing the biocompatible patch material;
- and
- a needle comprising a lumen in fluid communication with the storage cell;
- wherein the needle cartridge is mechanically coupled to the cocking mechanism when the needle cartridge is received by the needle cartridge recess such that engagement of the activation button dispenses the biocompatible patch material from a distal end of the needle.
A device comprising:
- a needle comprising a lumen, wherein the lumen comprises an outlet;
- a light emitter provided on a surface or disposed within the lumen of the needle;
- and
- a fluid circuit connecting a fluid reservoir to the outlet of the lumen.
A method for dispensing a photopolymerizable patch material comprising:
- providing a tissue repair device comprising:
- a needle comprising a lumen, wherein the lumen comprises a fluid outlet;
- a light emitter disposed within the lumen of the needle;
- and
- a fluid circuit connecting a fluid reservoir to the outlet of the lumen;
- providing the photopolymerizable patch material to the fluid reservoir;
- actuating the fluid circuit to dispense the photopolymerizable patch material from the outlet.
A method of collecting a tissue sample and repairing a wound created during collection of the tissue sample, the method comprising:
- providing a biopsy needle having a sample tray and a sheath at a biological site;
- sliding the sheath over the sample tray, thereby cutting the tissue sample from the biological site and retaining the tissue sample within the biopsy needle;
- dispensing a biocompatible adhesive into the wound;
- and
- retracting the needle from the biological site.
A device for collection of a tissue sample and repair of a biological site, the biological being located within a body of a subject, wherein said device is configured such that removal of the device from within the body of the subject is not required between collecting the tissue sample and repairing the biological site.
