Synthesized percussion pedal and looping station

A method for controlling audio playback and recording, comprising:

• receiving activation commands from a first foot-operable switch;
• controlling playback of MIDI sequences by a first processing module in response to the activation commands from the first foot-operable switch;
• receiving activation commands from a second foot-operable switch;
• and
• controlling recording and playback of audio loops by a second processing module in response to the activation commands from the second foot-operable switch,
• wherein the activation commands for both the first and second processing modules are triggered based on a duration and frequency of user application of the respective foot-operable switch.

A foot-controlled audio processing system, comprising:

• a first foot switch;
• a second foot switch;
• a MIDI sequence module configured to control playback of MIDI sequences based on input from the first foot switch;
• and
• a loop recording module configured to control recording and playback of audio loops based on input from the second foot switch,
• wherein both the MIDI sequence module and the loop recording module are configured to interpret multiple activation commands based on variations in duration and frequency of actuation of their respective foot switches.
