Abstract
A balanced grid valve for steam extraction from a multi-stage steam turbine comprising a first balancing chamber and a second balancing chamber which are configured to receive steam at high pressure through at least one duct. The balancing chambers are preferably in the form of annular grooves and are arranged at two different radial distances from the axis of the valve in order to reduce mechanical distortion of the valve.
Claims11
A balanced grid valve for steam extraction from a multi-stage steam turbine, wherein the multi-stage steam turbine is configured to process a steam flow and wherein the balanced grid valve is configured to be arranged between two intermediate stages of the multi-stage steam turbine, the valve comprising:
- a valve support having a first side and a second side, the first side-being configured to be exposed to the steam at a first pressure, wherein the valve support is fixed and ring-shaped;
- and,
- a valve body having a first side;
- and a second side, the first side being configured to be exposed to the steam at a second pressure, wherein the valve body;
- is a rotatably and ring-shaped;
- wherein the second pressure is greater than the first pressure,
- wherein the valve support and the valve body are mechanically coupled and the second side of the valve support faces the second side of the valve body,
- wherein the valve body;
- is rotatable with respect to the valve support;
- around an axis,
- wherein the valve support and the valve body have openings, said openings being configured to define an adjustable flow passage as a function of a relative rotation angle between the valve support;
- and the valve body,
- wherein the valve support and/or the valve body comprise a first groove and a second groove, wherein the first groove and the second groove are arranged at the second side of the valve body and/or at the second side of the valve support,
- wherein the first groove and the second groove are configured to create respectively a first balancing chamber;
- and a second balancing chamber;
- between the valve support and the valve body,
- wherein the first groove has a first radial distance from the axis and the second groove has a second radial distance;
- from the axis, the first radial distance being greater than the second radial distance,
- wherein the first groove is configured to receive the steam at a third pressure,
- wherein the second groove is configured to receive the steam at a fourth pressure,
- wherein the third pressure is greater than the second pressure,
- wherein the fourth pressure is greater than the second pressure, and,
- wherein the valve further comprises at least one duct, the duct being fluidly coupled to the first groove and/or the second groove and being configured to supply the steam at the third pressure and/or the fourth pressure.
