Abstract
A heat exchanger includes a plurality of plates of a first and a second type. The plates of the second type have a shape which is substantially mirrored to the shape of the plates of the first type. The plurality of plates of the first and the second type are arranged in a stack on top of each other, with plates of the first and second type arranged alternatingly, with corresponding ones of dimples and ridges of adjacent plates come and stay into direct contact with each other, so that corresponding first and/or second surfaces of adjacent plates abut each other and so that flow channels for the first and second media are formed between the surfaces.
Claims8
A heat exchanger comprising:
- a plurality of plates of a first type and a second type,
- wherein the plurality of plates of the first type and the second type are associated with a main plane of extension and a main longitudinal direction, each of the plurality of plates of the first type and the second type comprising:
- a first heat transfer surface, extending substantially in parallel to said main plane and arranged to be in contact with a first medium, flowing along the first surface in a first flow direction;
- a second heat transfer surface, extending substantially in parallel to said main plane and arranged to be in contact with a second medium, flowing along the second surface in a second flow direction;
- and
- an inlet for the first medium, an outlet for the first medium, an inlet for the second medium and an outlet for the second medium, wherein the first surface comprises protruding ridges defining at least two parallel and open-ended channels extending in the first flow direction,
- wherein the second surface comprises a plurality of protruding dimples arranged in said channels between neighbouring respective pairs of said ridges,
- wherein the plurality of plates of said second type have a shape which is substantially mirrored to the shape of the plates of said first type,
- wherein the plurality of plates of the first type and the second type are arranged in a stack on top of each other, with plates of said first type and the second type arranged alternatingly,
- wherein corresponding ones of said dimples and ridges of adjacent plates come and stay into direct contact with each other, so that corresponding first and/or second surfaces of adjacent plates abut each other and so that flow channels for the first medium and the second medium are formed between said surfaces, and
- wherein corresponding ones of said dimples and ridges of adjacent, mirrored plates are directly brazed together.
